Alex

Partner and Veterinary Surgeon

Alex qualified from St Catherine’s College Cambridge in 2007 and worked in a mixed practice in Dorset before moving to Southfields in 2012 to pursue small animal work. Her main clinical interests include diagnostic imaging, and cardiology in which she holds post graduate certificates. Out of work Alex is a mum to two young children, a Labrador Zephyr and two cats Bruce and Patch. In her rare spare time, she enjoys singing and performing both on and off the stage.

Valentin

Veterinary Surgeon

Valentin Chetrean was born and raised in the Republic of Moldova. After completing his studies at the Agricultural College in Moldova, Valentin earned a scholarship to further his education at the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, where he graduated with a degree in Veterinary Medicine in June 2017. Valentin began his career in Small Animal Medicine in 2019, starting as an intern at Medivet Dorchester. Over time, he developed a particular interest in soft tissue surgery and orthopaedics, which led him to pursue further specialization. He is currently working towards a certificate in this area, aiming to deepen his expertise and continue his growth in the field. Outside of his professional life, Valentin is passionate about cycling and running. He also treasures his time with his daughter Sofia and his partner Natasha, enjoying family life and outdoor activities together. Looking ahead, Valentin is excited to continue his work in small animal medicine, with a focus on mastering common orthopaedic procedures and contributing to the well-being of his patients.

Emma

Veterinary Surgeon

Emma graduated at the Royal Veterinary College in 2016. After gaining experience working in small animal practices in Hertfordshire; moved back to her hometown of Bournemouth and joined the team in 2020. She has a keen interest in internal medicine. When not working enjoys long hikes with her Labrador Ted, reading and family time with her daughter.

Catherine

Veterinary Surgeon

It seems many years ago that I qualified from the University of Melbourne. Soon after I travelled to the UK to locum and explore my paternal heritage, however I unexpectedly settled in Dorset and never returned to Australia. It is a fortunate person who can spend decades enjoying their work and so I feel blessed to be one of these few. As a generalist veterinary surgeon my role covers treating animals in multiple disciplines, my current area of study is in veterinary dentistry which is an area in which we all can do so much more and make a big difference to the lives of many of our pets. I look forward to meeting you and your pets when you are next in the hospital. Cathie

Night Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated from Nottingham University in July 2017, and. In 2021, I embarked on a new adventure as a night vet, where I've had the privilege of tending to the needs of our beloved companions when they need it most. My commitment to continuous learning and professional growth led me to pursue a postgraduate certificate in emergency medicine and surgery. Beyond the life in the clinic, I share my life with four wonderful border collies. These intelligent and spirited companions have taught me the value of patience, companionship, and the joys of outdoor adventures.

Alexandra

Veterinary Surgeon

I've been qualified since 2021. In 2022 I've joined Medivet to pursue my interests in internal medicine and emergency and critical care medicine. Working in a 24h hospital in the countryside gave me the opportunity to do what I love most: caring for animals in need and hiking in my personal time.

Arda

Veterinary Surgeon

Arda qualified from Ankara University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 2021. Worked voluntarily with stray animals and rescue dogs while he was a student and for a while after he graduated too. Joined Medivet in 2022. He has a special interest in surgery. Out of work Arda enjoys to do caving, bush crafting, wood working and reading history.

Siobhan

Veterinary Surgeon

Siobhan, who qualified over 30 years ago, has dedicated her career to working in veterinary practice, having a vested interest in dermatology. Holding an RCVS certificate and advanced practitioner status in Dermatology, she brings extensive expertise to her work. Commencing her role at Medivet Dorchester 24 in January 2024, Siobhan also enjoys spending her leisure time walking her dogs and playing the piano.

Rita

Night Veterinary Surgeon

Rita qualified from University of Lisbon in 2017 and since then she has worked in several busy hospitals in Lisbon and London. In 2023 Rita has started her career as a night veterinary surgeon allowing her to follow her passion for emergency and critical care. Working towards a post-graduate qualification in ECC and feline medicine are future aspirations that Rita holds. Outside work, Rita enjoys hiking with her loving husband, two boys and four beagles

Sam

Veterinary Surgeon

Sam grew up near Bath before graduating from London Royal Veterinary College in 2019, where he promptly moved back west to make Dorset his home, initially working with all creatures great and small before settling on cats and dogs. During this time, he developed an interest in small animal medicine, acquiring a post-graduate certificate in 2023. Sam's enjoys all medicine but particularly likes endocrinology, nephrology and oncology, although won't say no to a bit of soft tissue surgery and is one of our vets trained in laparoscopic (keyhole) procedures. However, his main passion is education, and enjoys teaching and training on all aspects of veterinary science to student vets and nurse alike. When not at work, Sam is found at home with his wife (also a vet), two grumpy cats (Neville and Saffron) and one badly behaved but well-meaning Labrador (Sidney), where he is either reading, exploring or trying/failing to become an increasingly unlikely winner of Masterchef!

I started with Medivet in 2017 and carried out my veterinary nursing training. Qualifying in February 2022 at the Medivet Dorchester 24hr hospital. With an specific interest in wildlife, exotics, critical care and diagnostic imaging.

Veterinary Nurse

I joined Medivet Dorchester in September 2023. I qualified in 2019 and have recently completed an advanced programme in veterinary nursing of wildlife and a course in schedule 3 nursing. I have an interest in emergency and critical care nursing and love looking after wildlife. I’m hoping to start my emergency and critical care certificate soon. I have a spoilt old ginger cat called Charlie and enjoy socialising with friends and family and travelling in my spare time!

Having started at Weymouth in November 2016, I am now working hard in my second year of nurse training at Lynwood School of Veterinary Nursing. Outside of work, I’m kept busy by my two dogs, Orion and Ahs, as well as a gecko and a corn snake.

I am a student veterinary nurse in my 2nd year. I am passionate about advocating for my patients and am enjoying learning how to do anaesthetics and the importance of post op care for all types of patients. In my spare time, I love to volunteer and passionate about conservation of different species. I completed a degree in animal welfare, and this has helped my nursing hugely. I am looking forward to developing my skills further in laboratory diagnostics, diagnostic imaging, and nurse consults.

Lizzie Jones is a Chartered Human Physiotherapist and has a master’s degree in veterinary Physiotherapy and is registered with ACPAT. She has over 12 years’ experience in treating animals. She has a 10-year-old cocker spaniel at home and loves walking him in the Purbecks in her time off or taking him paddle boarding which he loves.

Stuart

Practice Manager

Stuart qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2008, and worked as a veterinary surgeon in Weymouth and Dorchester until 2023, having been born and raised in the area. In 2024 he joined the Medivet team at Dorchester 24 to continue to be involved in the community and further a passion for outstanding veterinary care. Outside work, Stuart enjoys walks with his crazy cocker spaniel, building models and looking after his niece and nephew.
