Led by Branch Partner Alex Best we're a kind and caring team based in Dorchester who are dedicated to delivering the best client and patient care. We offer a full range of veterinary services and facilities including advanced surgical and imaging techniques and excellent 24/7 inpatient care. We look forward to welcoming you to our practice and helping your pet lead a long and happy life.
Alex Best holds certificates in both diagnostic imaging and cardiology and takes referrals for all sorts of heart cases. With a high specification ultrasound scanner and full array of probes she is able to diagnose and assess congenital and acquired heart conditions. She also has the backup of second opinion specialists that can assist remotely for the really tricky cases. Ultrasound scans are carried out in the practice as a day patient procedure and usually without any sedation.
At Medivet Dorchester we're proud to offer hydrotherapy and physiotherapy treatment. Physiotherapy is highly effective in relieving pain, restoring function and speeding up the recovery process. We also have an underwater treadmill, a physiotherapist and a trained hydrotherapist. Find out more about hydrotherapy below.
As a hospital we have staff working on the premises 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Overnight we always have at least one vet and nurse working on site at all times. This means that we are always available to help your pets. Our inpatients are looked after in separate dog, cat and isolation wards by a dedicated hospital team so they are always in the best of hands.
Laparoscopic surgeries utilise tiny incisions and specialised instruments, allowing for precise internal exploration and procedures. This means reduced pain, minimal scarring, and shorter hospital stays for your cherished companion. Whether it's spaying, organ biopsies, or even more complex surgeries, our experienced veterinary team is proficient in providing the highest standard of care using this innovative approach.
With exceptional image clarity and precision, our veterinary dental X-ray provides unparalleled insights into the hidden complexities of your pet's oral health. From detecting hidden cavities and abscesses to identifying fractures and periodontal disease, this advanced tool allows our veterinarians to make accurate diagnoses and develop personalized treatment plans.
