Medivet Group Holdings Limited and Grupo Veterinario KITICAN have today announced a strategic partnership agreement between the two veterinary groups, which also sees Medivet invest in the Kitican business to boost the Company’s growth in Spain and strengthen its operations.
Kitican is the third largest veterinary group in Spain and delivers a full suite of companion pet health services including routine check-ups, emergency care, lab & diagnostics and advanced surgery. The group has grown a strong and loyal client base by focusing on the delivery of high quality care through its network of experienced clinicians, well equipped hospitals and specialist clinics.
Deirdre Burns, CEO at Medivet, commented, “we are delighted to have invested in the Kitican veterinary group and to be in partnership with Ivan, Jorge and all the Kitican team. Medivet and Kitican share a very similar ethos in delivering exceptional clinical care and we are a strong cultural fit for one another. We are excited to be backing the management team, led by Ivan and Jorge, and to support them as they grow the business and accelerate their presence across Spain.”
Ivan Retzignac, Kitican’s Joint Founding Partner & CEO said, “we are incredibly excited to have Medivet as our new strategic partner and investor. Our principles and ways of working are closely aligned, and while the existing Kitican management team will continue to run the business, we know Medivet’s depth of expertise in successfully growing a leading veterinary group will provide all of our functions, operation and business with significant additional value. Our agreement is a true partnership, which we know is at the heart of Medivet’s success in the UK, and in partnership we look forward to building the leading premium veterinary group in Spain.”
Founded in 1987, Medivet is a clinically led veterinary group of more than 350 branches with 24 state-of-the art, 24-hour veterinary hospitals across the UK. The Company offers a broad range of mainly small animal veterinary services to meet all a pet’s health and wellbeing needs, from vaccinations and neutering to more complicated surgeries and leading-edge diagnostic technology. The business has been built on its unique branch partnership model, where vets can become equity partners with Medivet in their own clinic, with complete clinical freedom and unrivalled support from the wider Medivet network.
