Laser Surgery

Veterinary laser surgery at Medivet

We use cutting-edge laser technology in our soft-tissue surgeries to ensure your pet achieves the best results.

What’s laser surgery?

A laster is a device that produces highly concentrated light rays.

In certain surgeries, a laser light may be used to achieve the best results for your pet. Laser is typically used in soft tissue surgeries and is extremely precise and versatile.

What are the benefits of laser surgery?

Laser surgery has a number of benefits. These include:

  • Less bleeding after the incision, as the laser seals small blood vessels
  • Less pain both during and after surgery
  • A reduced risk of infection – the laser efficiently kills bacteria in its path, acting as a steriliser
  • Quicker recovery time - reduced risk of infection, less bleeding, less pain and less swelling often allow your pet a far quicker recovery after the surgery

What conditions can be treated with laser surgery?

Laser surgery can be used to treat Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS) due to the benefits of less swelling and damage to the tissues. Laser technology is also useful for removing skin tags and small lumps.
