Lead Veterinary Surgeon

Hi, I’m Sarah and I’m one of the vets here at Medivet Biggleswade since the early summer of 2025. I take great pleasure in meeting you and working towards our common goal of keeping your pets happy and healthy. I believe that high quality, compassionate veterinary care should be accessible and flexible to meet your needs. In my downtime, I get a kick out of playing ice hockey, cycling (for vegan cake, of course!), and fussing over my cheeky yet affectionate 1-year old cat, Mirielle. If we haven’t already met, I look forward to seeing you and hearing all about your pet(s) at your next visit!

I started in veterinary in November 2021 and can now truly appreciate the hard work and dedication this career path requires. Outside of work, I enjoy the gym and most things sporty, or going to gigs and festivals with friends. I’ve had cats throughout my life and Siberian huskies as dogs. I love meeting and treating everyone’s beautiful fur babies and strive to give them the best experiences while here that I can.

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Medivet Biggleswade and would not recommend them based on my recent experience with my cat, Ernie. Ernie was taken in as an emergency because he was struggling to urinate. We were told he had a blocked bladder and needed to go to their Watford branch to undergo emergency treatment. When we arrived in Watford we were told that Ernie should have been treated in Biggleswade, and given pain medication at the initial appointment at the very least. After spending ~£2500 on his initial care, we returned for his post op appointment at the Biggleswade branch 5 days after his discharge. At that appointment we were told his bladder was still full. We were charged another £145 for an ultrasound before being told he needed to be admitted again, have his bladder flushed, another catheter inserted and go back to Watford for another period of hospitalisation, with an estimated cost of a further £2,000. Naturally we were shocked by both the news and the cost, so we decided to seek a second opinion from a local independent vet before agreeing to more invasive treatment. The second vet examined Ernie, tested his urine and diagnosed a urinary tract infection. They manually expressed his bladder, prescribed antibiotics and muscle relaxants, and we got to bring him straight home. Three days later we returned for a check-up and his bladder was completely empty and he had made a full recovery, without the additional £2,000 procedure Medivet had recommended. What concerns us most is not just the money, but how quickly we were advised to proceed with another expensive emergency procedure. My wife repeatedly asked Medivet if there were any other options to be told there was not. We were not made aware that there may have been alternative approaches or that obtaining a second opinion was a sensible option. The vet we saw at Medivet however did very quickly produce a comprehensive write up of Medivet’s findings at our request. I appreciate that veterinary medicine isn’t always straightforward and different vets can have different opinions. However, the contrast between the two approaches has left me with very little confidence in the advice we received from Medivet. We left feeling frightened, under enormous financial pressure and convinced our cat needed another major procedure that ultimately proved unnecessary. Thankfully Ernie is now back to full health thanks to the care of another veterinary practice. I would strongly encourage anyone facing a major treatment recommendation to seek a second opinion before committing to significant costs.

My poor little dog was in so much pain and distress and making an appointment with Medivet was the best thing I could have done. She was put on painkillers for the day and evening and was asked to go back the next day for sedation and surgery. She was treated with the utmost care and compassion. All the staff were kind and sympathetic not just to my dog, but to me as well. So far she is recovering well and has a follow up in 3 days. I was told how to look after her post op in a way that I could understand. A big big thank you .

I rescued a poorly baby starling. Medivet were happy to let me drop the bird off to them, even though it was just minutes before they were due to close. They looked after the bird overnight and updated me about it's care. Both members of staff I spoke to were professional and caring. Very happy to recommend.
