We are aware that a number of staff have recently left to join another local practice, and we made a conscious decision to continue supporting this business during that transition. However, our experience has not reflected a service able to maintain continuity of care during this period.
Treatment has felt unclear and at times indecisive, and in our case was not completed, leaving us uncertain about the plan for our pet’s care.
This is not the first time we have experienced a lack of clarity around the care plan. On a previous occasion, I contacted the practice to follow up on next steps, only to be told they were waiting to hear from us, when in fact we were waiting for a decision from the vet regarding whether further tests were required. This lack of ownership and follow-up added to the overall sense of uncertainty.
Reception interactions have also been disappointing. On a recent visit to collect medication, I was asked to pay an outstanding bill three times within the first minute of arriving, before any greeting or conversation. The tone came across as abrupt and unwelcoming.
There has also been conflicting information regarding payment. My husband attempted to settle the bill earlier in the week but was advised to wait as treatment was ongoing. However, we were later told that notes would not be transferred to our new vet until payment was made, despite treatment not being complete and previous advice to wait. This approach felt unnecessarily heavy-handed and added to an already frustrating situation.
Overall, the lack of continuity and clear information sharing raises concerns about the safety and quality of care being provided.
As a result of these experiences, we are now moving to another practice. Unfortunately, continuing in this way is not sustainable for us and has left us with little confidence in the practice’s communication and continuity of care.
