Veterinary Care Assistant

I’m excited to be starting my journey as a Veterinary Care Assistant and to be part of such a supportive team. Before joining the practice, I managed a busy dog day care where I gained hands-on experience caring for dogs of all breeds, personalities and energy levels. That role strengthened my understanding of canine behaviour and the importance of creating a safe, positive environment for every animal. At home, I have a very loveable Golden Retriever and four rabbits who keep me busy. I’m hoping to progress onto Student Veterinary Nursing in the future and continue developing my skills and knowledge within the practice.

I have a an Affenpinscher called Pippa and a rescue dog called Dexter (both featured in my photo). I am currently doing a certificate with the Royal Veterinary College in Advanced Veterinary Nursing specialising in Emergency and Critical Care to further develop my skills and provide the highest standard of care to my patients.

We’ve experienced ongoing inconsistency in care at White Horse Vets, particularly around communication between staff. We have seen multiple vets, including locums, and at several appointments have had to repeat the same information because notes have not been clearly shared. This wastes time and undermines confidence in the service.
We are aware that a number of staff have recently left to join another local practice, and we made a conscious decision to continue supporting this business during that transition. However, our experience has not reflected a service able to maintain continuity of care during this period.
Treatment has felt unclear and at times indecisive, and in our case was not completed, leaving us uncertain about the plan for our pet’s care.
This is not the first time we have experienced a lack of clarity around the care plan. On a previous occasion, I contacted the practice to follow up on next steps, only to be told they were waiting to hear from us, when in fact we were waiting for a decision from the vet regarding whether further tests were required. This lack of ownership and follow-up added to the overall sense of uncertainty.
Reception interactions have also been disappointing. On a recent visit to collect medication, I was asked to pay an outstanding bill three times within the first minute of arriving, before any greeting or conversation. The tone came across as abrupt and unwelcoming.
There has also been conflicting information regarding payment. My husband attempted to settle the bill earlier in the week but was advised to wait as treatment was ongoing. However, we were later told that notes would not be transferred to our new vet until payment was made, despite treatment not being complete and previous advice to wait. This approach felt unnecessarily heavy-handed and added to an already frustrating situation.
Overall, the lack of continuity and clear information sharing raises concerns about the safety and quality of care being provided.
As a result of these experiences, we are now moving to another practice. Unfortunately, continuing in this way is not sustainable for us and has left us with little confidence in the practice’s communication and continuity of care.

Tatiana was amazing, so calm with our dog who needed a dew claw cutting and she even managed to cut other nails which we can’t get near with him. Really great service thank you!

When I am buying Royal Canin food wet/dry it would be good if the price was known by me and the staff rather than me having to waiting whilst they searched the amount of the goods through webpages

This practice definitely feels run down. As a very long standing client it was disappointing. Reception area poor and less inviting than in the past, even the front desk gone! Vet was ok but not one I’d seen before. Atmosphere less friendly and inviting than before, clearly some penny pinching going on :(

James Bind was invited for a free dental check up. Why wasn’t his sister Miss Money Penny invited?
