Gabriela Pop

Lead Veterinary Surgeon

Hi, my name is Gabriela Pop and I am really excited to be part of this team! I graduated in 2017 in Bucharest, Romania - then I moved to the UK straight away and I’ve been working as a Veterinary Surgeon in Wales for 6 years. I like to create a nice relationship with my clients and I always strive to provide gold standard of care for my patients - I enjoy both equally: surgical and clinical work. I truly believe that our profession requires continuous education, which is why I have also started studying towards a Postgraduate Certificate in Small Animal Surgery. In my spare time, I love spending time with my family, including my dog, but also reading, listening to music, travelling and cycling.

I could not fault the staff , nor the care that they gave . They were kind, friendly, professional , straightforward and engaging. They all had excellent communication skills. The practice is cheery and bright and my experience of care for my dog was entirely positive except for one aspect and that was cost. I have no issue paying for the exemplary care provided, which was a relatively small part of the bill but I do take issue with paying approximately £170 for a dose of apomorphine and around £120 for a single routine blood test,; most of which I imagine goes to Medivet rather than the practice,

We had to book an appointment whilst we’re on holiday, our German shepherd developed an infection in one of his paws. We were booked in the same day as calling and was seen by Will, he thoroughly checked Benji over and prescribed medication, thankfully he received very quickly so we could continue with our break. Very happy to have found you guys, and Thank you to Will for helping us. 👌🏼

Issues with the phone system meant that booking our appointment wasn’t that straightforward and then the availability online was limited. When I eventually spoke to someone at Medivet Cowbridge an appointment was sorted immediately.

We haven't had our free health checks every 6 months, indeed twice we made appointments just days after it was due, but instead of telling us and just combining it, they charged us but then never did the health check. Texts for yearly vaccines were never sent and despite visiting the surgery we were not reminded, so our car went two years without, no apologies when we said we never had them. No apologies when complaining about the health checks. They just don't really care about making their customers happy or giving value for money.
