I started working for Medivet as a permanent member of staff. Then I decided to have time away but didn't stay away for long. I decided to come back as a locum vet. I love seeing the different practices and l get to see a variety of cases and surgery. The team at Hinckley Roston Drive are always welcoming and happy to help me. In my spare time I enjoy cooking, travelling and caring for my exotic pets.

Practice Manager and Veterinary Nurse

I have always been interested in the veterinary profession with carrying out work experience at Roston Drive back in 2004!! I became a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2012 after completing my BSc (HONS) degree. After a few years, I gained my certificate in Emergency and Critical Care and worked nights in an emergency hospital which I thoroughly enjoyed!! I am currently working on my certificate in advanced vet nursing for small mammals. These days you will find me at Roston Drive within part of the nursing team and as practice manager. When not at work I enjoy spending time with my husband, dog Rosie, blind cat Harley and my tortoise.

Head Surgical Veterinary Nurse

I have always had an interest in veterinary work originating from a farming background and took a student nurse position in a mixed practice in Leicestershire in 2003. I qualified in 2007 as a registered veterinary nurse (RVN) and decided to take locum roles in referral centres and small animal general practices all over the country. I worked at the animal charity PDSA for 10 years during which time I completed my diploma in advanced veterinary nursing (DipAVN) and graduated from Myerscough School of Veterinary Nursing in 2015. After this I worked as a volunteer abroad for 2 animal charities in Greece. In 2019, I took a head nurse role within Medivet for 3 years. I currently work within the nursing team at Medivet Roston Drive as head of the surgical department which is where my passion lies. Outside of work, I enjoy keeping tropical fish, walking, swimming and baking cakes.

Student Veterinary Nurse

My name is Mathilda, and I am a 1st year student veterinary nurse. At home, I have 5 cats, 4 chickens, a Jack Russell Terrier, and a leopard gecko. The most rewarding part of my job is seeing sick patients recover as a result of our treatment and care within the practice. Responsibilities I enjoy within the practice include carrying out sample analysis in the laboratory, along with patient recovery after sedation or general anaesthetic.

I started my career as a veterinary receptionist in March 2017 working at Vets4Pets in Hinckley where I became Head Receptionist. I really enjoyed my role there but left in 2021 to work at Bell, Brown & Bentley vets as they offered me set hours. Whilst at Bell, Brown & Bentley I completed the Bronze, Silver & Gold BVRA award and became an Associate Veterinary receptionist. I moved to Medivet Roston Drive in May 2023 as it’s much closer to where I live and I can walk to work. I love working as part of the Medivet Roston Drive Team and meeting all the pets and their owners. In my spare time I enjoy walking, spending time with my three grandchildren and looking after my 4 cats.

We have had 4 dogs and been clients at Hollycroft for 18 years, but in our recent visits, we have noticed a huge lack of consideration and care. We took our little terrier in for an ultrasound scan after standard blood and urine tests hadn't been definitive. It was obvious a blunt razor had been used to shave her swollen belly, causing her skin to be sore and itchy. She was taken in first thing in the morning, and wasn't seen for her ultrasound until late afternoon, so she had to spend the day alone in the practice whilst noisy construction work was going ahead. There was a distinct lack of communication: we had to call the vet for updates. The vet who spoke to my mother regarding the results was extremely rude and patronising, which was very distressing. We are supposed to trust that our pets - our family members - are in safe hands. I am devastated that my pet was treated in this manner in the last week of her life. I cannot recommend anyone who loves their pet to go here. Edit: I sent this review with extra details to the vet as a formal complaint, in an effort to try and ensure this wouldn’t happen again to anyone else. The rudeness of the vet towards my mum was not acknowledged, and they said non-surgical procedures are done after 2pm. They did not explain why our little dog had to be there from 8am and wait 6 hours. They also said, “Unfortunately, clipper rash is a problem that can appear sometimes. An emollient cream would have been applied to the irritated skin whilst Georgie was in the practice. However, if a patient licks an irritated area this can make the rash worse.” We waited 2 months for their response to our complaint. We feel it was a very clinical reply, and does nothing to heal the hurt we experienced whilst using their services, nor does it ensure this will not happen again to anyone else in the future. Use this vet at your own risk.

The cat waiting area is not suitable. The accoustics are terrible and our cat was disturbed by the noisy dogs close by. Andrei was very good and helpful but our cat was distressed by the time we got in which made things more difficult.

My terrier is a nervous little chap and the care and kindness shown by the practise nurse this morning was excellent. She took everything slowly and went at his pace. Very informative consultation. Next a consultation with the vet was quickly sorted and he was calm and efficient, straight to the point and job done. Finally the lady on reception was friendly and kind, sorted out the prescription and had me on my way swiftly. A good experience for both the dog and myself.
