Partner and Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated as a Veterinary Surgeon in Portugal 16 years ago and have been living in the UK for 10 years, initially working as a companion animal vet while finishing my PhD at Cardiff University. I joined the team at Medivet Llandaff North as a branch partner in December 2020. Since arriving in the UK, I've worked in multiple roles as an emergency vet and have been a Clinical Director and Senior Clinical Director. I have a keen interest in emergency surgery, avian and wildlife medicine.

the vet was open over the weekend which was fantastic as it avoided an extremely expensive trip to the out-of-hours vet or me having to wait to get my pet seen

Since this Vets practice was taken over by a large company it seems the prices have gone up and up. The vets are good but the money- grabbing is not.

We have been with the practice since its inception after Cumines closed. Appointment was a few minutes late but that’s fine, that sort of thing happens. Lady vet was great with my very anxious Labrador. He gets distressed just walking through the door! She was very patient with him and took time to talk to both of us.
My only comment about the reception area, which was exceptionally busy when we came out of the vets room, is that some sort of filtering system needs to be out in place as it bottle necks and it’s difficult to exit. Maybe some of those ‘barriers’ that you see at airports and concerts? Perhaps move the first row of chairs directly opposite reception. It was fine but it would only take one reactive dog, to cause chaos in that bottle neck - just suggestions not criticisms

Lovely friendly professional staff who put us at ease as I have a needle phobia and they made sure I didn’t see any needles. Our cat Freckles had her usual solensia anti inflammatory jab and was held by my adult son. The nurses were lovely Libby and trainee nurse Cerys. Check ups done. Very pleased.
