Lois Wilkie

Branch Partner & Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, London with Honours in 2012. I then worked for 6 months in a clinic for geriatric cats (I love an oldie) before completing a 3-year PhD in feline cardiology. Part of my PhD involved travelling around the UK performing heart scans, and it was during this time I first visited and fell in love with the practice. Originally from Hertfordshire, I relocated to join the practice in 2017 and became Branch Partner here in 2023. I have just completed the final modules of a post-graduate certificate in Feline Internal Medicine and have a passion for cardiology and internal medicine. Outside of work, I'm kept busy by my three cats and young daughter. I enjoy running, callisthenics, climbing and gardening

I'd brought my boy, Levi here for 15yrs. It was great under last ownership. The last months of his life were bad. I took him twice a month for months due to seeing he was in pain & Lois diagnosed pancreatitis each time. She'd give him a 24hr painkiller but he never got better. Then we saw vet Jessica. Jessica discovered it was actually cancer. Osteosarcoma. The kindest option was euthanasia. I was with him. Jessica too. The day after Levi passed I asked Lois if I could see him 1 last time. I spent 90mins with him. Then Lydia came in and before long papers were scattered around his body as she tried to work out how I owed £250 from 2.5yrs ago. That went on for over an hour. I was too distraught to think straight & they took advantage of this. Levi had been in the freezer overnight & was now thawing. I told this to Lydia & she replied "Yes, he would be around now" & continued with the papers. She did realise then, and took Levi back to the freezer. When she was gone, I suffered an emotional breakdown. Lois came in then & offered me a cuppa tea to help calm down, but I just wanted to leave. When I picked Levis ashes up, Lydia was there. I had tears running down my face. The waiting room was empty. Lydia said "Do you want to just take him & go. We've got clients coming". I complained to Medivet about what Lydia did & Lois had the nerve to deny it happened. Jessica is the only good vet here.

The practice changed the vet I had booked to see and the appointment time without notifying me prior to the change.
They did not inform me at my appointment in January of changes in the way prescriptions could be issued despite being aware of these changes at the time. This resulted in unnecessary extra expense as well as an unnecessary trip to the practice.

Lois was, as always, wonderful with our two cats who were visiting for their annual vaccines. We wouldn’t go anywhere else!

I would highly recommend this vetinary surgery. I recently left a surgery in Essex which I had been with for years with an amazing vet. So when I was recommended it was quite a relief. The staff and the vet I saw were absolutely great. They are geared totally toward the animals and show an excellent affinity with the animals to putting them at ease. Also the time spent on the appointment was not rushed in any way... I am now a very happy returning customer... Thank you

The service and feel of the clinic has deteriorated since being taken over by Medivet. It longer has the personal touch. The friendly human greeting on the telephone has been replaced cby an automatic “press 1 for……”, etc. At the same time the prices have r shot up. Very sad
