Lead Veterinary Surgeon

I’ve been the lead vet here since August 2017. I graduated from Lisbon Technical University's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 2004, then completed an internship at Hannover University's School of Veterinary Medicine before starting to work in practice in the UK. Over the years I’ve developed an interest in soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, and in December 2016, obtained the BSAVA's Post Graduate Certificate in Small Animal Surgery. I’m passionate about research into veterinary medicine and surgery and strive to offer the best advice and care available to my patients. Outside of work, I live in Lincolnshire with my wife, who is also a veterinary surgeon, and my two daughters.

I qualified as a vet surgeon in Spain at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (lovely weather, I know) and joined Medivet Bretton in June 2021. I have an interest in Emergency and Critical Care and would like to achieve further qualification on this in the future. In my spare time I love camping, playing sports and travelling back home where I spend time with my family and a very special cat called Merida, two senior (occasionally grumpy) terriers and a young GSD, among few chickens and any wildlife that requires a hand.

Outside of work I enjoy hiking and gardening, I have a beautiful Siamese cat at home and a handsome ginger tom cat who we rescued and only has three legs.

Pet owners should steer clear of this veterinary clinic at all costs. Unfortunately, I had to make the heartbreaking decision to euthanize my dog, Loulou, due to kidney failure and cancer. During the initial visit, the vet mentioned that if Loulou's condition didn't improve, they would conduct blood tests. Despite her condition not improving, when we brought her in again and suggested it might be her teeth, they scheduled dental treatment for her two weeks later. Surprisingly, on the day of the dental treatment, they finally performed the necessary blood tests, which revealed the issue was with her kidneys. Subsequently, Loulou was transferred to a specialist hospital where, sadly, she was euthanized four days later. While it was inevitable that we would have to say goodbye given Loulou's condition, if the vets had conducted proper due diligence earlier, we might have had a few more precious weeks with her at home. Regrettably, Medivet in Bretton refuses to take any responsibility for what transpired and consistently claims they rely on the assumptions of the owner. On top of this, I put a complaint to head office and was given the wrong email address which I then had to chase over the phone and email numerous times. Of course, my issue has not been dealt with, and have been left broken-hearted and financially out of pocket. I would hate for anyone to experience this so please be careful!

Asked for a straight up price list of what I wanted, to avoid the typical big surprise that vets love to spring on us. It was like i was offending them by asking. Was told I'd get a call back, but, nothing. Vets need to be more transparent and easy to deal with. They do everything with money extraction in mind. It's truly a shambles.

Bianca the vet was so caring and sensitive to my mums cats needs. She gave him time to calm as he was distressed due to car ride and cat box and she then found his problem and treated him. Everything was explained clearly. What a lovely caring vet - thank you.
