Head Veterinary Nurse

I have been with this practice since 2011 and graduated with a Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing. Throughout childhood, having grown up on a small-holding, I have been surrounded by a menagerie of animals since I was 2 years old. To this day, I still own very small pets to very large pets - I own a lizard, chickens, a pigeon, cats, dogs, a goat and a horse! I have a keen interest in medical nursing and inpatient care and am currently working through a certificate in exotic nursing.

Student Veterinary Nurse

I'm Becca, a third year Student Veterinary Nurse here at Wem. I have worked with Medivet since November 2019 where I began my journey as a mobile Patient Care Assistant, before becoming a permanent member of staff between the Wem and Whitchurch practices. My favourite part of the job is anaesthesia and nursing consults and hope to further increase my knowledge in these areas. I'm known at work as the 'crazy cat lady' with three felines of my own at home. In addition to these fur babies I have a black lab puppy called Percy and two miniature Shetland ponies. In my spare time I enjoy swimming and nice walks with the dog.

Veterinary Nurse

I began my career with a degree in Technical Theatre and a role in the entertainment industry, but my lifelong dream of making a difference in animals’ lives led me to retrain as a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN), qualifying in 2018. In practice, I have a particular passion for emergency and inpatient care, pain management, and supporting senior patients. I’m also a dedicated advocate for rabbit welfare — a cause close to my heart. At home, I live with my husband and our two elderly house rabbits, who remind me daily why I do what I do. Outside of work, I love hill climbing and exploring everything the countryside has to offer. I also enjoy arts and crafts, which give me a creative outlet and a peaceful balance to my busy clinical life.

Practice Manager

Hello I'm Jozie. I recently joined Medivet Wem and Medivet Whitchurch after returning from maternity leave. I've been working in the Veterinary field for around nine years and started my career as a Student Veterinary Nurse in a small mixed practice in Wales. Since joining Medivet I've worked my way up from being a Registered Veterinary Nurse to Head Nurse, and now Practice Manager. The best thing about my role is I get to support two really fantastic teams and meet the wonderful patients and clients they care for (also the pet snuggles). I'm really passionate about Veterinary Nurse progression, Mental Health in the Veterinary field, Neurodiversity and Customer care. Having worked closely with Cats Protection and rescue Greyhounds in a previous role, I have a special place in my heart for these fur babies so you will often see me in the reception when any "Snuffle Hounds or Pusskins" come visiting. At home I have three mini humans, a very messy husband, two cats - Gary and Kitten, two axolotls - Toothless and Star, a leopard gecko called Yellow and a dog called Maggie AKA " Flop dog". Say hello next time you're in - I love meeting all of your fur babies.

All the Staff are very friendly, welcoming and helpful. They go out of their way for you and your pets and the nurses are extremely knowledgeable and experienced. A few new vets have joined the team recently and they are very thorough in their examinations. They are also very knowledgeable and are keen to help your pets. Nurse Karen is very knowledgeable and trained in rabbit care and head nurse Emily is highly trained and experienced in a wide range of care for a variety of animals. Vet Paul is a locum, and is absolutely outstanding, IF you can get to see him. He is very popular so his appointments are snapped up quickly. Unfortunately Medivet won't give him a permanent position but they need to listen to their clients, we want Paul permanently!!!

No continuity of care. Where are the old vets? The latest one said i hadnt 'complied' with the requirement to have 6 monthly clinical examinations of my cat. If what they did 6 months ago wasnt a clinical examination then what was it? They certainly charged plenty. Feels like they are just interested in making money.

I was very upset that the vet, who i had never seen before, implied that i hadnt been caring properly for my cat. He said she should have had a 'clinical examination' 6 months ago and hadnt. In fact she is taken every 6 months for blood tests, weighed, claws trimmed and examined. If they fail to record the vet exam correctly yhat is not my fault. I felt he just wanted to maximise revenue and charge as much as possible. This practice has changed so much, and not for the better. Where are the old vets? We used to have continuity of care.

Unfortunately although it is a fantastic practice under corporate ownership it has become very expensive like many other large veterinary practices

Your corporate over-pricing is a constant source of irritation and to be honest it's just plain greedy. Right from the start you are being greedy as you charge an 'admin fee' for setting up the direct debit. I pay many things by direct debit and no other company from sole trader to multi-national has charged me. Don't even start me on the mark up you charge on prescription items. It's not the fault of the vets, nurses and admin staff we deal with. It is the fault of those at the top.
