Head Veterinary Nurse

I have over 25 years' experience as a veterinary nurse although originally qualified as a human nurse. I now love working with the pets and their owners of Ashtead helping the vets provide the best quality veterinary care possible. In my spare time when not caring for 3 bossy cats. Isaac, Caleb and Eli, I can be found crafting and reading.

Veterinary Care Assistant

Helen started a second career with us as a VCA (Veterinary Care Assistant) in 2024 after returning to college to study and obtain Veterinary Support Assistant and Animal Care qualifications. With a lifelong passion for animals of all kinds, she volunteered at Wildlife Aid for several years, working there as a Care Assistant and Nurse Auxiliary in the vet team, looking after all kinds of injured and orphaned British wildlife creatures. When she's not at home spoiling her cat, Helen loves spending time outdoors with her husband gardening, and watching animals and birds out in the wild around the UK and overseas.

Caring for all aspects of your pet’s oral health is easy with our excellent dental facilities.

We know that sometimes it just isn’t possible for you or your pet to travel into one of our practices to receive care. At times like this, our capable and compassionate veterinary teams often offer at home visits.

Your local Medivet practice will be able to issue an Animal Health Certificate for EU travel.

We use x-ray machines to quickly diagnose issues that might affect your pet.

With our 15-minute consultations, you have enough time to ask our expert vets any - and every - question you might have regarding your pet’s health and lifestyle.

Quick and efficient testing at our state-of-the-art in-house laboratories is just one aspect of the exceptional care we offer.

A pet ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging technique used to view your pet's internal organs and identify potential issues.

Amanda, the receptionist, was amazing as always - so friendly, kind and helpful.
However, the vet we saw was not great. We were there for a routine check up and vaccinations. Our previous check up was very thorough but this time, it was as if the vet was scared of our dog. He listened to her heart but did no further checks. I said that she had a bit of a sore on her ear and that we had been using sudocreme on it. He said to continue with this even though he didnt look. He didnt look at her teeth, ears or feel her stomach or body - which happened on previous visits. I should have said something at the time but had my daughter with me so didnt want to make a fuss in front of her.

Always a pleasure to visit my vets.Skye makes a beeline to the door and straight onto the scales and then politely sits and waits for her reward.
The receptionist, Amanda, is welcoming and highly efficient in organising appointments, orders etc. The staff are friendly and progressional and most importantly, I trust them.
