Meet our Partner, Charlotte Dobson

I qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in London in 2012. After graduating, I returned home to the North West where I worked in an emergency hospital before continuing my career in a variety of small animal practices. I completed my Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice (CertAVP) in Surgery in 2016 and have a particular interest in soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery. I enjoy getting to know both pets and their owners and building lasting relationships with clients. Outside of work, I live with my husband and two daughters, along with our Jack Russell Cooper and our cross breed Belle. At weekends, you’ll usually find me ferrying my daughters to various competitions with their ponies. I’m very proud of our welcoming team and look forward to meeting you and your pets at the clinic.

Student Veterinary Nurse

Hi, I’m Kim, I’m a student veterinary nurse due to qualify in 2026. I have worked at Medivet Bamber Bridge since 2020. One of the things I enjoy the most is seeing patients come back year after year. I especially have a soft spot for the older patients and enjoy giving them lots of hugs. My interests are laboratory work, radiology, and nurse consultations. I also love taking care of patients on ward, recovering them from anaesthetics, and making sure they feel loved. In my spare time I’m usually with my Beagle, Hector who is nine years old, he loves nothing more than cuddling on the sofa, eating and getting out for walks. Outside of work you will either see me watching a live rock band or watching Blackburn Hawks ice hockey. I love to collect horror memorabilia and love to game with my partner.

Our kitten experienced complications after a routine spay and required follow-up surgery. The practice waived the additional fees, which we appreciated. Practice Manager Charlotte was very helpful in resolving the issues and was attentive and supportive during our follow-up appointment. She also kindly helped to shave our kitten, whose fur had become matted from wearing the protective suit. Icesis, one of the vets, was also very kind and caring during the second surgery. She provided reassurance when I was very worried, which meant a great deal. Unfortunately, my experience with vet nurse Jo Smalley was very different. I found her manner to be rude and combative during an already stressful post-operative situation. It was disappointing, particularly as she is in a front-facing role. I noticed other reviews mentioning a rude receptionist, and I suspect this may refer to the same individual.

I am unhappy with the inconsistency of the vets at the practice, if there is a follow up appointment then it is a different vet who sees the animal and is unaware as to the condition of the animal when it first attended. We have been bringing our dogs to Mr Clarke for over 40 years and the vets working for him were a constant body of people, now we get anybody who happens to be on shift. There used to be a plaque on the wall with photographs of all the staff and their job titles, this can never happen now because of the constant changing of people.
