Originally from the sunny Algarve coast in Portugal. I joined the Medivet team at Barnes in 2022, shortly after graduating from the University of Lisbon. I have a strong interest in soft tissue surgery and plan to continue advancing my knowledge in this field. If the sun is out, I can always be found near the Thames River path on the weekend.

I joined Medivet in 2016 as a Patient Care Assistant. I have since qualified as an RVN and become a mother of two boys. What I love most about being a nurse is getting to know our clients and their wonderful pets, especially after many years working in Barnes.

I started working for Medivet in 2014 as a Patient Care Assistant, then became a student and eventually qualified to become a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2019, which is when I also became the Head nurse at Medivet Barnes. I have always had a love for animals and felt a very close connection to them which is why I wanted to learn to care for them. I had always seen myself as more of a dog person having grown up with a German Shepherd, however since working within the industry I am now proudly owned by 2 cheeky kitties who I absolutely adore.

My passion for veterinary care lead me to starting my career at Medivet in 2021 as a Patient Care Assistant and have now progressed on to being a Student Veterinary Nurse. I enjoy working in a small animal practice as no two days are a like and I am always learning something new not only from the team but from our furry friends.

I am currently a second year Veterinary Nursing student and hope to achieve my qualification early next year. I have a particular interest in surgical nursing and anaesthesia. At home, I have a badly behaved but loveable German Pointer called Moose.

I started working with Medivet in November 2020, after deciding on a career change. I have a 12 year old cat called Coco. In my spare time, I design and create props, costumes and puppets for her sister’s theatre company.

This service unprofessional. I’ve never written a negative review for a business before but now I feel compelled to. One of the problems with this practice is that you play roulette when they assign a practitioner to treat your pet. Previously I’d had a good experience with a woman who had a good bedside manner and checked my cat’s ears. He’s been generating a lot of wax in one. She prescribed some antibiotics and some cleaning drops and told me to come back if the treatment did not work. It did not work. Admittedly I did wait a few weeks between sessions as I had little time. When I did come back, the short, grey haired Australian man who treated him was 15 minutes late and did not bother to apologise. He was also unhygienic when treating my cat. The previous woman would use a disposable knob on the otoscope when examining each of my cat’s ears. When checking the other ear she would discard he knob and replace it with a new one. This man did not bother, nor did he bother to wear disposable gloves as he predecessor did. I also explained that my cat does not seem to be going out these days, and that whenever he goes out he comes back only a couple of minutes later. He then joked that maybe my cat was senile. I asked if there was a way to test this and he simply laughed in my face and said there wasn’t. He then also said that it’s because he’s old. I then that the change appears to have been sudden, and that he is still full of energy and runs around indoors. He ignored this. I also said that I was worried that he was feeling very bored. He then adamantly said that cats don’t get bored because they sleep a lot. When he examined my cat’s ears (unhygienically) he then said that it was just a permanent change in my cat due to inflammation, and said nothing else. I asked how this was possible as inflammation is typically in response to some other factor. He had no answer to this. I then asked why it would happen in just one ear and not both. He had no answer. Overall his analysis was lazy and seems to turn the whole thing into a scam. I was told to come back if the wax secretion persisted, implying that there would be a new strategy if the initial one failed, only to be told that further treatment of any kind would be futile in preventing the secretion, so what was the point in coming back then? I’m suspicious that he did not bother to read the notes his predecessor left, as he only took a cursory glance at the screen displaying them. He also said that they symptoms my cat were not being caused by an infection such as yeast, as I smelt one of his discharges and said it did smell of yeast. He smiled and said in a rather mocking tone “Aw, you really want get the wax to stop don’t you?” Well, yes, that’s what you’re paid for in case that slipped your mind. I then initiated a conversation about diet and asked if tinned fish could help. He then casually said that omega 3 is healthy. Overall, I feel scammed of £54 and the man who treated my cat was lazy, pompous, unprofessional and really has no place in that industry. If you’re being treated by a grey haired, short Australian man with a bald spot, then ask for someone else. The others at that place typically do a much better job in my experience. I won’t be returning to this practice. That being said this is intended as a criticism not of the entire practice, but of one man.
