Duncan the head vet would get a million stars but, medivet prices have crept up since they were taken over by an investment group. That said, they've just introduced a more beneficial healthcare plan which includes reduced cost long term meds and for a further fee, free consultations.

We are disappointed with the amount that our insurance has re-imbursed us with. They have said that the general anaesthetic charge was too high and they deducted £80.93. They also said the medications were over 100% online price (rheumocam - 6.71, noroclav - 19.00) making another deduction of £25.71. They deducted £106.64 plus our excess from our claim. We are just wondering why both these charges have such a high mark up. They have said the policy covers up to £250 for the cost of general anaesthetic - they have deemed this a reasonable fee from their own statistical research. They limit any payment to a maximum mark up of 100% for veterinary treatment, medication and dispensing fees.

Duncan the vet is very very good and I would recommend him anytime. However..i have an overweight 12 year old dog who can no longer get in the car and wouldn't manage the walk down, and they refused to give flea and wormer until they had seen her. Hardly an understanding practice I think. Plus they wanted about £270 for me having the privilege of them driving about 1 min drive away so they could see her at home. Utterly ridiculous in my opinion. Because of that I just don't think given the age and health of your pet it may not be the best practice for you. Having said that I don't know what other vets are like. Shame because like I said Duncan is great. We had our cat put down earlier on in the year and he and the staff were very thoughtful. The staff are all friendly. I just wish they would be able to be a bit more flexible

Refused to give flea and worming treatment until they had seen the dog. Even though I explained she is 12 years old and overweight and I can no longer get her in the car and she wouldn't be fit enough to walk down. And they wanted 270 odd pound for the privilege of them driving less than 1/2 mile to the house. No thanks. Duncan however is a fantastic vet and would definately recommend him anytime.
