Partner and Veterinary Surgeon

I’m Hayley and I’ve worked in the veterinary industry since 2012, before qualifying as a vet in 2018. My interests lie in internal medicine and I’m also a huge fan of cat friendly handling and minimising stress for our feline friends! Outside of work I enjoy taking my three and a half legged cockapoo, Dottie, to the beach and reading a good crime thriller!

Having qualified in Scotland where he is from originally, Dugie has worked at the practice for over 30 years, and is well-known within the community for having once been branch partner of Parkside Vets. Most will remember the articles that he used to write for Wirral Life Magazine! Dugie specialises in laparoscopy and orthopaedic surgeries, and comes back to the practice monthly from his home in France, to keep the staff on their toes. In his spare time, Dugie enjoys making the most of the warmer weather in the South of France by taking his dog Ghill (as seen in the photo) for walks, blacksmithing and art.

I'm Amalia and I graduated from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2020 and further specialised, completing a Master's program in Small Animal Surgery in 2023. This gave me valuable experience in Soft Tissue Surgery, which is my special interest. I've also volunteered in various stray animal initiatives in Greece. Outside of work, I love catching up with friends and exploring the UK's beautiful landscapes through hiking. I consider myself to be a cat-lover, having two furry felines back at home.

I'm Lou one of the CCA's, I've worked at the practice since September 2019. Prior to working here, I had never worked in a veterinary practice before, but I can honestly say I've never enjoyed a job more, and I'm lucky to work alongside a great team of people. I have lived in and around New Ferry for forty-four years. It is so lovely seeing familiar faces and new come into the practice. Being a CCA is the best role as I enjoy helping clients, but most of all I love the cuddles from all the gorgeous pets. I enjoy spending my free time with my husband, twin daughters and teenage daughter, and my gorgeous Cavatzu Minnie.

With our 15-minute consultations, you have enough time to ask our expert vets any - and every - question you might have regarding your pet’s health and lifestyle.

Caring for all aspects of your pet’s oral health is easy with our excellent dental facilities.

An electrocardiogram (ECG) is a simple, non-invasive test used to detect certain defects in your pet’s heart.

Using a tiny, flexible camera, we’re able to view internal body parts with little surgical intervention.

These glands release a smelly fluid which helps your pet to mark their territory and communicate with other dogs. But sometimes they can become blocked and infected. At Medivet our clinics can help with routine gland expression, making sure your pet stays comfortable and healthy.

We know that sometimes it just isn’t possible for you or your pet to travel into one of our practices to receive care. At times like this, our capable and compassionate veterinary teams often offer at home visits.

Quick and efficient testing at our state-of-the-art in-house laboratories is just one aspect of the exceptional care we offer.

At Medivet, we’re proud to offer keyhole surgery as an option at many of our practices.

We’re excited to share with you that Medivet clients* can now book appointments online.

Pet cremation is just one option to think about. Whether it’s something you ultimately decide is right for you or not, Medivet is here to support and guide you.

Knowing what to expect and how to prepare can help bring some comfort and peace. Medivet is here to guide you through every step of this process. Find a clinic near you which can offer compassionate and personalised support.

The new ferry practice as always looked after my pet bilbo every step of the way. All the vets and staff are outstanding. They have always welcomed myself and Bilbo and made him feel very welcome and loved. Unfortunately Bilbo pass away last week at the age of twelve. He had many conditions which had to be treated and cared for by the staff in New ferry. Because of their caring and supportive approach Bilbo was able to live a happy life. The passing of Bilbo has been devastating to the whole family . We are still in the grieving stage and find it hard to believe our Bilbo has left us. i can never thank the staff at New ferry enough for all the care and love they gave him. They showed support and sympathy to my self and sent us a sympathy card. I know they will all also being missing Seeing Bilbo in the practice.Thank you again to all at he New ferry practice . I can't rate all the staff at New Ferry medivet highly enough. We've been going to the New Ferry vets for decades now. The people are all lovely, and have amazing memories. They know the patients names (and the owners), they go the extra mile every time to look after our pets, and us. We've had happy times and sad times over the years with our pets. The vets, nurses, and reception staff have been brilliant every time. I wouldn't take my pet anywhere else
Thank you all

My dog suffered a cardiac arrest during induction of anaesthesia for a routine procedure and required CPR before she could be stabilised. She was pre-medicated prior to induction with(medetomidine and methadone) Accepted veterinary guidance indicates that pre-medicated dogs of her size would normally require a significantly reduced propofol dose, typically in the region of 2–4 mg/kg, given slowly to effect, with higher doses generally associated with un-premedicated patients. The dose used for my 1.88 kg dog was (8.5mg/kg) when later calculated, was substantially above what is usually expected under these standards. With no documented proof of titration. I was not informed beforehand that a dose of this level would be used, nor of the associated risks, and therefore did not feel I had given informed consent. After the incident, the event was later described to me as “breath holding”, despite resuscitation having been required. I was not provided with a clear explanation of how the dose was determined or titrated, and the clinical records supplied were incomplete. While I understand that complications can occur, the lack of transparency, documentation, and acknowledgement following such a serious event has left me distressed and with ongoing concerns about consent, risk management, and clinical governance at the practice.
