It’s a good job the care and the vets are brilliant… because the administration is god awful. Appointment times might as well be made up…expect at least a 20 minute wait after your time. (I’m using that time for my 12pm appointment, it’s now 1218, to write this review!).

The staff were extremely helpful. Thank you to Franko the vet and the nurse they saved my 4 week old kitten. As the kitten had no name and was a boy, we've called him after the amazing vet who saved him FRANKO. Thank you. Shaun green.

I am the next door neighbour and used this practise for 25 years ion Friday I admitted my sick dog to the hospital for emergency care after he was there in the Thursday too , now for symptoms of septic shock and respiratory distress , he was admitted for treatment which he did not receive any , he was admitted at 5pm after waiting since 1pm with respiratory distress and signs of shock ,when the vet said they did not want to take any risks with his condition but he was discharged without treatment at closing time 7pm on a Friday , with no communication from the vet no ohine call , no explanation, just a copy of notes sayin requires emergency hospitalisation for 3 days. He was basically kicked out at closing time. They broke their professional code of conduct and should have treated him in an emergency . I left him in an animal hospital . I rushed him to Vets Now Preston with symptom of sceptic shock , white gums low temp , he ended up having a seizure in the consultation room . Vet Now were very honest with me and waivered their £287 consultation charges because the vet told he had been left too late too late to treat , despite hime being in the vets every single day weds, row ice Thursday, and now twice Friday. The Vets Now emergency vet was almost in tears but I thanked her for her honesty which is what I wanted , I brought him home with me Saturday morning I rang hillcrest/medivet to ask why they discharged a very sick dog (sings of sceptic shock) with notes saying needs emergency hospitalation, they said because they dont have the facilities, I told them you are a hospital and the nites said he needed basic IV fluids at this stage she said they don’t have the staff and ut wouldn’t stop at fluids then it would be blood transfusions… she said I can’t keep a dog at home in pain , well that’s on them sending him hime in pain , I had to keep him sedated myself, they said they wanted to put him to sleep and they would do that for me but they time of their vice of the vet Nina was nit caring and very rude, sayin my dog had behaviour issues , which he doesn’t . . I rang my personal friend Sonia who owns Chorley Vets I have know her 25 years, she said she would take a look at what was going on. I took him to Chorley Vets at 3.15 pm expecting tto be PTS, when I got there Sonia said he’s doesn’t need putting to sleep she got her vet Sarah to check him over. My little dog (shar pei) was then treated and saved by my shar pei specialist Mr Frazer at Rufford Vets where is was he was treated for pneumothorax. Hillcrest had discharged him in pain with a life threatening emergency condition expecting me to have him PTS, thank goodness other vets took us seriously and saved his life. Also A couple of weeks ago Hillcrest/Medivet misdiagnosed my elderly dog and he all most got accidentally PTS. my daughter NHS Dr. came to visit him one last time and gave him an examination, she said Mum he has an infection and doenst need putting down. He needed antibiotics. So that’s two of my dogs Hillcrest/Medivet have tried to PTS prematurely the last month! . 12 months ago it took them an hour to PTS my female dog ,she almost woke up from the sedation and time was running out, they said their needles they were using weren’t strong enough for the job They also tried to up sell me an urn just before she was PTS The nurses and reception staff at medivet/hillcrest are nice I’ve known some of them for over 20 years but the vets are constantly changing over, goin home,in training and they don’t go they extra mile. I don’t know why they are in the job. I do not recommend taking your animal here especially at a weekend. They are very pro euthanasia to suit themselves.

Following my previous review , to update in the situation , I received a very cold hearted letter form the practise manager saying I should no longer attend their practise in future (lol) which I don’t want to after they discharged my sick dog needing emergency life saving treatment without treatment! . This comes after a 25 year long customer loyalty /neighbour relationship has now iiretievabley broken down because last Friday I admitted my dog to their animal hospital for emergency treatment for signs of sceptic schock and they did not treat him they instead discharged at 7pm on a Friday evening in a life threatening condition without so much as a phone call from the vet who was supposed to be treating him. I found out on the notes paper they gave me at the time of discharge saying he needed emergency 3 day hospitalation , but that’s exactly why I left him in a hospital because i through the he was in a safe 24 hour hospitals with facilities as advertised on their website. This week I have had to seek help for my pet elsewhere, where he has now undergone treatment for for pneumothorax, which is air on the outside of the lungs … (similar to collapsed lung) abs this is the state hillcrest/medivet discharged him in In a state of emergency. They answer to it all has been to send me a cold hearted letter to say that I should no longer attend the practise again. But this is there mistake discharging a dog with a life threatening emergency condtion and all they can say is don’t dont come back to their practise again , no concern sen for the welfare of my beloved dog and no concern for my emotional mental health as his owner It’s in excuseable , online they advertise as a 24 hour animal hospital with exceptional facilities when in truth they are not operating 24/7 care , they lack the facilities according to their vet I spoke to on the phone and lack staff . As a neighbour and loyal client of 25 years who has used them in a regularly basis (monthl/weekly) I’ve seen the real side to them now when things go wrong and they basically kick you your animal out at closing time and then when you complain they just say don’t come back. If they want to be trusted and respected they first should demonstrate a level of trust and respect themselves through animal welfare . Once they PTS your animal it covers up a whole host of mistakes and your left non the wiser . It’s taken me a week to get help elsewhere and when I do I’m shocked to discover they discharged my dog with pneumothorax , had he of not survived I would have been non the wiser. They really don’t care about your pet or your emotional well being as an owner . Other vets at other practises I have spoke to since have been exceptionally supportive kind caring and compassionate and considerate toward my state of mental health as well as they welfare off the animal. Hillcrezt /medivet haven’t demonstrated any compassion what so ever , although they happy to take your money . They vets are highly paid and therefore I expect my pet to be in experienced hands if I’m going to pay top rate prices I expect to receive First class treatment. Hillcrest/medivet lack compassion when things go wrong. It’s not the first time people in the local community have sadly reported failings by the practise abs the majority of the neighbours don’t use the practise . It’s a shame because I trusted them and learned the hard was that you can be loyal and a trustworthy person it’s didn’t mean the ppl you trust are the same . I can’t believe they discharged a dog in a life threatening condition and then sent me a letter saying don’t come back … speechless It writing this review saves another animals life then it’s been worth writing it. It’s an honest truthful review about our recent experience, the lack of empathy from them is equally as concerning as the lack of treatment for my animal . Maybe they ok if u booster but in an emergency situation they are lack , yet they call themselves an animal hospital, it’s not really. Horrified how we been treated I want an investigation and a copy of it

Amazing caring staff. All our pets have been looked after by these vets, from hamsters and rabbits through to our dogs. Always highly recommend them. We have their VIP plan too for annual boosters and quarterly flea, tick and worming treatment. Insurance claims are always sorted quickly and with ease, too.

I can't stress strongly enough how greatful we are to Chris and his team for saving our cat Jacob and his ongoing care. We previously used another vet in Bamber Bridge and Jacob would likely have died if we hadn't switched vets. Their compassion and care for both Jacob and us is unparalleled. Yes they are a business but they take time to talk to you without feeling you are on the clock. I definitely recommend them to anyone.
